Rimóczi László, screenplay-writer
"The short films open a new dimensions to the viewers and to their animal needs, because their is more time, there are more possibilities to go to pee, as if You spent 1,5 hours on your seat looking a feature film."
"A short film is like a novel: there can't be a neutral gear and long unfolding in it. The most impressive works are really short, and it starts powerfully. If a dog walks for 3 minutes at a meadow, I wind forward the film. If this same dog runs on a bed while I hear some impulsive music, I go on watching the film. So: if You possess a camera, there"s no need to use it by all means. Message to the obliged filmmakers: do not send junks, because it hurts to watch them."

Szabó Simon, independent filmmaker
He has been making films for six years, he has not been indentured to the University, though he already tried once. His known works are: Afterjka, Pocketlove, We go. He has some acknowledgements, but he doesn't boast. Only sometimes, if somebody asks. One time he was a jury-member. Good guy!
" Shorts, clearly, nicely, with high standards! : SHORTFILMFEST

Szilágyi Kornél (Igor Buharov), experimental filmmaker
buharov_lidI was born in Budapest, in 1971. After graduating from secondary school I trained as a chef, then I tried to learn to play the saxophone. At the moment I am a student at the Intermedia Department of the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts.
"BuSho- as You can see it from the name, means Budapest Short Film Festival, so to the applicants I say: the applied works should be SHORT, and should not lose their essence. We saw many films, with unneededly long scenes, which added nothing- so bated something-  to the matter, and with overexplained parts. All the filmmakers know, that it's not easy to part with some beloved scenes, but please take a look at your work, as if you were somebody else, and don't be afraid to use those scissor! This will be in favour of the story-telling. And I would like to say that be brave , dare to innovate, because the futurer is a dizzying perspective.

Gergely Zoltán.Director, Screenplay writer
(1975 - Nyíregyháza)
He graduated at SzFE in 2006, in the first class of screenplay-writers, he was taught by Schulze Éva and Orsós László Jakab. Formerly he wrote advertisements, and this duality is present in his whole life and in his works. As a screenplay writer he made feature films, TV-programmes, and shorts in scores of genres. He has been directing since 2005, his work entitled " Superwash" has been selected into the program of International Film Festival of Atlanta, of the Future Film Festival at Karlovy Vary, and it won the prestigious Simó Prize of the Madzag Filmegylet, also the main prize of BuSho and of the 1. UPC-AXN Festival, and " The best young Director"-prize at Brno 16. In 2006. he accomplished his studies at the screenplay-writing faculty of the University of Cinematic Arts  at Budapest, currently he works on his diploma work, he writes and directs advertisements, and writes screenplays. As an ad-director he gained attention of the whole world: in 2007, at CineReal Fest ( festival of transport films) he won the prize of the " best ad-director". This led to an even bigger success: the editors of London Shots, which is an ad-selection, selected him into the New Director-section. In 2008. he was invited to the Berlinale Talent Campus.
I ask the applicant to send the films without menu, so that they could start automatically with subtitles in order to accelerate the proccess of pre-jurying. Now, that I sat in a pre-jury for the first time I wonder that I won something at all. Maybe I was more patient than my mates, and I would have watched the worst films if they had let me. Perhaps this is because I remember: my first works were awful, and I would have liked somebody to watch them, instead of fire the cinema, break the projector, or lynching the projectionist. These were all promised by my first viewers.
The lesson is: every film has the same value as its weakest and it strongest point. The less unnecessary elements, moments, dialogues and scenes it contains, the more powerful and impressive it is! It's the filmmakers' responsability, to edit everything which doesn't work.
I am very proud and happy that I could meet excellent and talented people int he pre-jury, unfortunately I managed to make fool of myself int he first 2 seconds by saying about a film which was shot on Super8 and wasn't liked by the others that it looked like a Buharov- film.  Int he next moment it became clear that the person sitting next to me was one of the Buharovs. If somewhere in the city you here tee-hees and " it looks like a buharovfilm" ( like this, one word) about food, woman, car, story, which is realistic, but looks dirty and scratched somehow, like a badly developped Super 8, then You'll know: this comes from the silly comment of a talented and / or well-intentioned young filmmaker.
